The SECO 17004807 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for precision milling in steel and hardened materials. Part of the MB215 series, it features a 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) mill diameter with a matching 1/16 inch length of cut and a low 15-degree helix angle suited for stable cutting in difficult materials. The tool is PVD-coated with AlTiN for heat resistance and extended tool life in high-hardness applications. With a 2.5 inch overall length and a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this single-end, right-hand cut mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers where tight-tolerance, small-diameter work is required by machinists and tool and die professionals.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations in steel and hardened materials, including mold and die work, medical components, and precision aerospace features requiring small-radius ball-end geometry. The extended-reach configuration, with a 1/8 inch reach length and 1/16 inch neck length, allows access to recessed features and deep pocket floors where standard-length tools cannot reach. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hardened materials (ISO material codes P and H). Part of the SECO MB215 series; manufacturer catalog number MB215-0.063-G1-B.0-Z2.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the 1/4 inch shank in a compatible collet or end mill holder and verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0003 inch before cutting. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut are appropriate for the workpiece material and this tool diameter before engaging the cut. Never exceed the rated length of cut or apply side loads beyond the neck geometry of the extended-reach section.
