The SECO 17004673 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, it handles high-heat cutting environments and extends tool life in ferrous and hard materials. The 4-flute, fine-pitch spiral geometry produces a shearing action that reduces vibration and chatter during heavy cuts. With a 5/8 inch diameter, a 1.625 inch length of cut, and a 3.5 inch overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes on ferrous alloys, stainless steels, and other hard materials where heat resistance and edge retention are priorities. The Weldon flat shank provides a positive drive interface that resists pullout under heavy radial cuts. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical machining centers and knee mills. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry where required by the application.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard 5/8 inch side-lock and set-screw toolholders used on CNC vertical machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the set screw in the toolholder to prevent axial pullout under load. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
