The SECO 17004445 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting 1/2-13 UN threads in both internal and external applications. With a 3-flute, right-hand cutting geometry and an AlCrN coating, this tool handles demanding threading operations where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical. The shank diameter is 0.375 inches with a cutting diameter of 0.350 inches and a length of cut of 0.875 inches. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in precision manufacturing environments where single-tool internal and external thread milling is required.
This thread mill is suited for shops running CNC machining centers that require a single tool capable of producing both internal and external 1/2-13 UN threads. The helical flute design supports efficient chip evacuation during the threading cycle. With a minimum nominal diameter of 0.500 inches, it is appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole threading operations. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so flood or mist coolant delivery at the spindle or fixture is the standard approach.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation for 1/2-13 UN thread milling applications on both internal and external features with a minimum nominal diameter of 0.500 inches.
Installation and operation of this tool requires a CNC machining center with helical interpolation capability. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or toolholder and verify runout before cutting. Program thread depth and helix pitch per the 1/2-13 UN thread standard using the machine control's canned cycle or a CAM-generated helical path. Inspect the first threaded part with a calibrated thread gauge before running production.
