The SECO 17003874 is a compression spiral router bit designed for precision cutting in composite and fiber-based materials. Built from solid carbide with a diamond coating, this bit combines upcut and downcut flute geometry to compress the workpiece from both directions simultaneously, reducing delamination and surface tearout. It features a 0.5 inch cutter diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length. The chipbreaker router style further controls chip formation during high-speed routing passes. This tool is intended for installation and use by CNC operators, tooling technicians, and skilled tradespeople working with advanced composite substrates.
This compression router bit is engineered for demanding routing applications involving carbon fiber, composite laminates, graphite, and green ceramic materials. Its 30-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting direction are optimized for clean edge quality on top and bottom faces of sheet goods in industrial CNC routing setups. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard half-inch collet systems, making it compatible with a wide range of CNC router platforms used in fabrication and manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with CNC routers equipped with a 0.5 inch collet. Rated material applications include carbon fiber, composite, graphite, and green ceramic substrates.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified CNC operators or tooling technicians with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Ensure the collet and collet nut are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm shank engagement depth meets the router manufacturer minimum specification before operating. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and equipment manufacturer guidelines when routing carbon fiber or composite materials, as these substrates generate fine abrasive dust requiring proper respiratory and eye protection.
