The SECO 17003632 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree high helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in softer, gummy materials. The two-flute configuration provides a good balance of chip clearance and edge strength for both roughing and finishing passes. The bright, uncoated surface finish suits applications where coating reactivity with aluminum is a concern. This tool belongs to SECO's AB245 series and is built to tight tolerances for consistent performance in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for milling aluminum, copper, brass, plastics, and other non-ferrous or soft materials in both production and job-shop environments. Its single-end, short-length design is appropriate for applications requiring rigidity and minimal overhang, such as 3D contouring, slotting, and pocket milling in shallow-to-moderate depth operations. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand spiral flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC setups. The 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard collets and end mill holders of matching bore size.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, particularly for tight-tolerance finishing operations.
