The SECO 17003606 is a single-end square end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, it delivers the heat resistance and edge integrity required in high-speed and hard-milling applications. The tool features a 7/16 inch cutting diameter, a 9/16 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle with five spiral flutes. The stub-length profile keeps the tool rigid, reducing deflection in aggressive cuts. Intended for use by machinists and CNC operators across production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, adding flexibility in pocket milling and contour work. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. The Series S545 designation places it within SECOs stub-length solid carbide end mill family, optimized for short overhangs and high material removal rates in difficult alloys and hardened steels.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight shank fully into a collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the tool tip after installation before commencing cuts, and confirm cutting parameters match the workpiece material and depth of cut for this stub-length geometry.
