The SECO 17003588 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance milling across a broad range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with an AlTiN finish, it delivers heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The 7/32-inch (0.2188-inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 3/4-inch length of cut, a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank, and a 2-1/2-inch overall length. Five spiral flutes at a 45-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms are the primary users of this tool.
The 17003588 is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, making it practical for slot milling, profiling, and pocket work without a pre-drilled start hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or air blast is recommended for heat management in high-feed applications.
Part of the SECO S545 series. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a 1/4-inch collet or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention hardware to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed the rated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before commencing a cut.
