The SECO 17003170 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. Built to Series A345 specifications, it features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length. The 45-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, making this tool well-suited for high-feed machining strategies. Micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and edge retention without the brittleness associated with standard carbide grades. The bright uncoated finish is the correct choice for aluminum, preventing built-up edge from the chemical adhesion that coated tools can cause.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials are being profiled, slotted, or contour milled. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The straight shank is compatible with standard ER collet systems and end mill holders with a 3/4 inch bore. Single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than reversed when worn.
Designed for use with non-ferrous workpiece materials, including aluminum and similar alloys, as designated by material code N. Straight 3/4 inch shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders with a 3/4 inch bore. Part of the SECO Series A345 end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Use a calibrated torque wrench or collet tightening procedure per machine tool manufacturer guidelines when seating the shank in the holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation — maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches.
