The SECO 17003161 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in softer, gummy materials. The three-flute geometry balances rigidity and chip clearance, making it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The bright uncoated finish is standard for aluminum applications, avoiding the built-up edge issues that can occur with coated tools on non-ferrous stock. This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials are the primary stock. The 1/2 inch straight shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems commonly found in production and prototype shops. Its single-end configuration makes it a standard replacement tool for high-run non-ferrous machining programs. The Series A345 designation places it within SECO's solid carbide end mill line for non-ferrous and general-purpose applications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 1/2 inch straight-shank solid carbide end mills used in non-ferrous milling applications. Compatible with standard ER collet systems, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Clean the collet bore and shank contact surfaces before seating the tool to maintain runout within specification. Confirm that TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inches after installation to preserve tool life and surface finish quality.
