The SECO 17002992 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous machining applications. Ground from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for demanding cuts in production environments. Key dimensions include a 1 inch cutting diameter, 3.25 inch length of cut, 1 inch straight shank diameter, and a 6 inch overall length. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating adhesion with non-ferrous materials is a concern. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working on mills and machining centers.
This end mill is classified as a long-series tool, making it suited for deeper pockets and slots where standard-length tooling cannot reach. Its primary workpiece material designation is aluminum and non-ferrous materials, covering alloys such as copper, brass, and plastics commonly encountered in aerospace, automotive, and general job-shop production. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry into the workpiece, adding versatility for interpolated pocket milling and ramp entry. With right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, it runs in conventional CNC spindle configurations without special programming adjustments.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing any end mill. Use an appropriate collet chuck or end mill holder sized for the 1 inch straight shank, and verify runout does not exceed the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after clamping. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, and confirm tool overhang is minimized to reduce deflection during long-reach operations.
