The SECO 17002967 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling operations in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. This single-end tool features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for consistent performance in production and job-shop environments. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working with milling machines and machining centers across light manufacturing and aerospace applications.
This end mill is suited for use in aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials classified under ISO material group N. The stub length configuration and straight shank make it appropriate for close-tolerance work where minimal overhang is required. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge milling as well as peripheral cuts, giving the operator flexibility in toolpath strategy without changing tools.
Designed as a Series A245 OEM-style solid carbide square end mill intended for use in standard straight-shank milling tool holders and collet chucks accepting 3/8 inch shank diameters.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder torqued according to the holder manufacturer specifications before beginning any cut. Verify shank runout does not exceed the rated TIR of 0.0005 inches after seating in the collet or end mill holder. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm workpiece fixturing is secure to prevent movement during the milling operation.
