The SECO 17002958 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-accuracy material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous applications. Built to Series A245 specifications, it features a 0.25 inch cutting diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length on a 0.25 inch straight shank. The 45-degree helix angle and two-flute spiral geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the edge strength and rigidity needed for consistent performance in production and job-shop environments. The bright uncoated finish is suited to non-ferrous materials where coating buildup can cause issues.
This end mill is intended for cutting aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous metals where a sharp, uncoated carbide edge outperforms coated alternatives. The centercutting design supports both peripheral milling and plunge operations without a pre-drilled entry point. At 4 inch overall length with a regular-length classification, it fits standard tool holders and collet chucks used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. It is sold as a single-end tool, meaning the cutting end is not reversible.
Designed for use in standard 0.25 inch collet chucks, ER collet systems, or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece material classification is aluminum and non-ferrous (Material Code N). Series A245 regular-length designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the retention nut — inadequate engagement is a leading cause of tool pullout. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after installation; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches.
