The SECO 17002956 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series A245 specifications, this single-end tool features a 0.25 inch mill diameter, a 0.375 inch length of cut, and a 2.5 inch overall length. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in softer metals and composites, while the micrograin carbide substrate delivers edge retention through extended production runs. Two right-hand spiral flutes and a bright uncoated finish make this tool a direct choice for finishing and light roughing passes where coating adhesion or chemical reactivity is a concern. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines running aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The 0.25 inch straight shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders common in both production shops and job shops. The short length type keeps deflection low, making it appropriate for slot milling, profiling, and shoulder work in thin-wall aluminum parts and structural extrusions. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional and climb milling in these materials.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (Material Code N). Fits any standard 0.25 inch ID collet chuck or end mill holder. Part of the SECO Series A245 short-length square end mill line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the 0.25 inch straight shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR spec using a dial indicator before cutting. De-energize and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting the tool.
