Product Description

The SECO 17002617 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision micromachining operations. With a cutting diameter of 0.01 inches and a length of cut of 0.03 inches (1/32 inch), this tool is built for tight-tolerance detail work in demanding materials. The 1/8-inch straight shank provides a secure grip in standard collet systems, while the overall length of 1.5 inches keeps the tool rigid during cutting. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the hardness and edge retention needed when working in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys. This end mill is spec-matched for CNC machinists and toolroom technicians running fine-feature work.

This tool is suited for small-feature milling in both production and prototype environments. The Series ME430 design targets applications in aerospace, medical device manufacturing, mold making, and precision component machining where cutter diameter below 1/32 inch is required. The uncoated bright finish makes it a straightforward choice for shops that re-grind tooling or work with non-ferrous materials where coatings may interact with the workpiece. It is a single-end configuration, meaning the tool is replaced rather than reversed when worn.

Key Features

  • 0.01-inch cutting diameter with plus/minus 0.0005-inch mill diameter tolerance for tight dimensional control
  • 4-flute spiral design with 30-degree helix angle for smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action
  • Micrograin solid carbide construction supports use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temp alloys
  • Centercutting geometry allows plunge milling in addition to peripheral and slot milling
  • Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration for standard spindle operation
  • Bright/uncoated finish suitable for re-grinding and non-ferrous applications

Compatibility

Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 1/8-inch collet or collet chuck systems. Compatible with applications across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and high-temperature alloy (S) workpiece material classifications.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the chuck manufacturer's specification. At 0.01-inch diameter, this tool is extremely fragile -- verify runout does not exceed 0.0001 inches TIR before initiating a cut, as excess runout will result in immediate tool breakage.
