The SECO 17002402 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in tight-tolerance machining applications. Built on the ME230 series platform, this single-end tool features a 1/64-inch cutting diameter, a 1/16-inch length of cut, and a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank with an overall length of 1-1/2 inches. The two-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in confined cutting zones. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating buildup at this small diameter would be detrimental.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling operations requiring very small-diameter cuts, such as engraving, slotting, profiling, and detail work on complex components. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Typical applications include precision moldmaking, medical component machining, aerospace part finishing, and intricate metalwork where tool diameter is a critical constraint. The 1/8-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard collet toolholding systems used in CNC machining centers and CNC routers.
The 17002402 belongs to the SECO ME230 series and is designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines equipped with standard 1/8-inch collet or toolholder systems. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to maintain runout within the specified 0.0001-inch TIR maximum. At this diameter, even minor runout or collet contamination can cause immediate tool breakage. Tool setting and offsets should be verified with a presetter or edge finder before initiating a cut.
