The SECO 17002397 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise, small-diameter milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.015-inch cutting diameter and a 0.045-inch length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work, micro-slotting, and tight-tolerance profiling. The single-end configuration features two right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle, providing efficient chip evacuation in a compact geometry. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the rigidity and edge retention required when working in difficult materials. The bright, uncoated finish makes this tool suitable for a wide range of workpiece materials where coating interaction is a concern.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and high-speed milling operations in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry, adding versatility in complex part programs. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The 1/8-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders found on most vertical machining centers and small CNC mills. The 1.5-inch overall length provides adequate reach while maintaining tool stiffness at this small diameter.
Designed for use with 1/8-inch collets or end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers and high-speed milling machines. Part of the SECO Series ME230 square end mill line. Compatible with workpiece material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum and non-ferrous), and S (high-temperature alloys).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine manufacturer's specification before cutting. At 0.015-inch diameter, tool deflection and runout are critical factors — verify spindle and holder TIR before running. Follow the machine tool builder's guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when changing tooling on live spindles.
