The SECO 17002203 is a single-end, centercutting corner radius end mill ground from solid carbide and coated with TiCN via a PVD process. It carries a 3/8-inch (0.3750-inch) mill diameter, a 1/2-inch length of cut, and a 0.0150-inch corner radius that softens edge transitions to reduce chipping and improve surface finish. Three right-hand spiral flutes at a high helix angle promote chip evacuation while allowing the tool to perform both roughing and finishing operations in a single pass. It is sized for use in standard toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This end mill is designed for machining non-ferrous metals, including aluminum alloys and copper-based materials where the TiCN coating provides adequate lubricity and edge retention without the risk of built-up edge associated with ferrous-optimized coatings. The extended-reach geometry, with a 2-3/8-inch reach length and 0.3600-inch neck diameter, allows access to deeper pockets and stepped features that standard-reach tools cannot reach. It belongs to SECO Series AN340, a coarse-pitch line suited to general-purpose milling in job-shop and production environments.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (material code N). Part of SECO Series AN340.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC milling or manual milling equipment. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and within tolerance before seating the shank, and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch TIR maximum specification. Set spindle speed and feed rate according to the workpiece material and machine rigidity before engaging the cut. Never exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut parameters for the selected flute and coating combination.
