The SECO 17000015 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous applications. Built to Series AN345 specifications, this single-end tool features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle optimized for efficient chip evacuation in soft and gummy materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge stability at higher feed rates. With a 4 inch overall length and 2-1/8 inch reach, this is a long-reach configuration suited for pocketing, slotting, and profiling operations where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece geometry. It is installed and used by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill is intended for machining aluminum, brass, copper, plastics, and other non-ferrous materials (ISO material group N). Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate where coatings may react with certain non-ferrous alloys or where re-sharpening is a priority. The 3/8 inch straight shank fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling used on vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers as well as manual knee mills.
Designed as a Series AN345 replacement and standard fitment for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 3/8 inch straight-shank toolholders, ER collets, or shrink-fit systems. Optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (ISO group N).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or machining center operators. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state before inserting or removing tooling. Confirm the collet or toolholder bore is clean and within specified runout tolerance before tightening; the maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the toolholder type in use.
