The SECO 17000004 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision material removal in graphite and similarly abrasive workpiece materials. It carries a CVD diamond coating that resists the aggressive wear graphite machining imposes on cutting edges. The tool measures 3/16 inch in diameter with a 0.0200 inch corner radius, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. With 4 flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral at a 30-degree medium helix angle, it supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. This end mill is used by CNC machinists and tooling specialists working in mold shops, electrode manufacturing, and graphite component production.
The SECO 17000004 is suited for CNC milling of graphite electrodes, mold components, and other abrasive non-metallic workpieces where standard carbide tooling wears prematurely. The 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders used on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Its DIACR430 series construction pairs the CVD diamond coating with solid carbide substrate to maintain edge integrity over extended run times in graphite applications. The single-end, normal-pitch configuration keeps setup straightforward for shops running production or prototype graphite work.

Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and within specified runout tolerances before seating the shank, as TIR on this tool is rated to a maximum of 0.0005 inch. Graphite dust generated during machining is electrically conductive and a respiratory hazard — confirm dust collection and enclosure ventilation meet applicable shop safety requirements before running. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended pull-out force or clamping torque range for 3/16 inch shank tooling.
