The SECO 10008599 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in milling operations. Built to Series STS540 specifications, it features a 3/8-inch diameter cutting profile with a 0.0450-inch corner radius and five flutes arranged in a variable helix, variable index geometry. The HTA coating extends tool life in demanding applications. With a 7/8-inch length of cut and 2.5-inch overall length, this short-series end mill suits tight-tolerance roughing passes on machining centers and CNC mills. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists install and set this tool type.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations requiring controlled corner geometry and reduced chatter. The variable helix and variable index flute design help suppress vibration during aggressive cuts. The centercutting configuration allows plunge entry. Its short-series length provides rigidity in setups where overhang must be minimized. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and general precision metalworking where corner break geometry is required on finished features.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement end mill in the STS540 series, compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank tool holders accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Use a calibrated tool holder with appropriate runout specs for the shank diameter; confirm shank engagement depth meets holder manufacturer minimums. Verify cutting direction is set to right-hand rotation before initiating any program.
