The SECO 10001048 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX160508TR-M13 in manufacturer grade MP1501. This single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert is CVD-coated with TiCN and Al2O3 under the Duratomic coating classification, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous milling operations. It features a positive rake angle of 9 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and the M13 chip breaker geometry. With two cutting edges and a relief angle of 15.20 degrees, it is suited for productive face and shoulder milling in steel and cast iron applications. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for production milling on compatible toolholders.
This insert is designed for milling steel, cast iron, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes P, K, and H. The XOMX-16 series insert is intended for use in precision milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills where consistent chip control and surface finish are required. It seats via screw-holding method and is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes depending on depth of cut and feed parameters. The M13 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-duty cuts in ferrous materials.
Confirmed compatible cutter series: R217.69-XO16 and R220.69-XO16. Insert size code 160508 fits XOMX-16 series toolholders designed for this insert geometry and screw-holding configuration.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method — do not over-torque the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for debris or damage before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge engagement.
