The SECO 03310371 is a CCMT-series indexable turning insert designed for metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the CCMT32.51-F1 industry standard designation and is manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life in steel and stainless steel applications. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a sharp cutting edge style with a positive rake angle of 17 degrees. The F1 chip breaker geometry promotes efficient chip control in continuous and light interrupted cuts. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the screw-clamp holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It targets ISO material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), and K (cast iron), with manufacturer grade TP25 placing it in the P20, P30, and P35 material grade range. Typical applications include general-purpose finishing and semi-finishing passes on CNC turning equipment in job shop, production machining, and maintenance environments. The insert is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC operators as part of routine tooling maintenance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for CCMT-series screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert. Compatible with toolholders specifying clearance code C, tolerance code M, and a 0.1772-inch hole diameter. Multi-use application covers boring, facing, and turning operations.
Installation is performed by machinists using the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the insert under the clamping screw per toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines. Always index or replace the insert with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Dispose of worn carbide inserts in accordance with local regulations for carbide and coated tooling waste.
