The SECO 03310370 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and conventional lathe applications. It carries the CCMT21.51-M3 industry standard designation and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and wear resistance. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake angle of 18 degrees. The M3 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across a range of depths of cut up to 0.2362 inches. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians use this insert for high-volume production work where consistent edge performance is required.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It falls within ISO material grade classifications P20, P30, and P35, making it most effective on medium-to-hard steel applications. The screw-holding method is compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders. The chamfered and honed cutting edge reduces chipping at entry and provides a stable cutting action during interrupted or continuous cuts. Two cutting edges are available per insert, supporting cost-effective tool management in production environments.

Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO Code P); secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel (ISO Code M) and cast iron (ISO Code K).
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the screw-clamp insert holding method standard to CCMT toolholders. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before installing a new insert, as contamination can affect seating accuracy and edge life. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamp screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body.
