Product Description

The SECO 03280716 is a round solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation RDKT10T3M0T-8-M05 in manufacturer grade F40M. The insert features a TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating applied via PVD process, a positive rake angle of 16 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. With 8 usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance in face milling and profile milling applications. The fine-grain carbide substrate and PVD coating make it well suited for demanding cuts in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users.

This insert is designed for use in milling cutters from the R217.29-05 and R220.29-05 cutter series. It suits both roughing and semi-finishing passes in ISO material groups P (steel), K (cast iron), S (superalloys and titanium), and N (non-ferrous metals). Typical install scenarios include face mills and round-insert end mills used in production machining on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The screw-held mounting method ensures positive insert clamping with repeatable edge positioning on every index.

Key Features

  • Round insert shape with 8 cutting edges for maximum index count per insert
  • TiAlN and TiN PVD dual-layer coating for heat and wear resistance in steel and superalloy cuts
  • Positive rake at 16 degrees with T-Land edge prep reduces cutting forces and protects the edge
  • Fine-grain carbide substrate in manufacturer grade F40M provides toughness and edge integrity
  • M05 chip breaker geometry optimized for steel, stainless, and cast iron material groups
  • Neutral hand orientation fits both left- and right-hand cutter bodies in compatible series

Compatibility

Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.29-05 and R220.29-05 as stated by the manufacturer. Insert size code is 10T3 within the RDKT-10 series.

Installation Notes

Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by qualified CNC tooling technicians or machinists. Power down the machine spindle and engage the machine lock before handling inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key to the cutter body screw specification — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
