The SECO 03280035 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG-M3 series, designed for high-performance metal cutting operations including boring, facing, and turning. It carries the industry standard designation WNMG433-M3 and ISO code WNMG080412-M3. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The 80-degree trigon shape with a neutral hand orientation and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style make this insert suitable for a range of stock removal applications. It is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians working on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is primarily specified for stainless steel (ISO material code M, material grades M30 and M40) and secondarily for steel (ISO material code P). Typical applications include external and internal turning, facing passes, and boring operations on both manual and CNC turning equipment. The M3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions common in production machining environments. The insert accepts clamp, pin, and lever-lock holding methods, giving shops flexibility across toolholder systems they already run.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert retention. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO M); secondary workpiece material is steel (ISO P). Multi-use application across boring, facing, and turning operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp, pin, or lever-lock mechanism to manufacturer-specified torque using the appropriate torque wrench or key. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage before each use; a chipped or worn edge on a carbide insert should be indexed or replaced, not reused.
