The SECO 03280029 is a WNMG432-M3 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries manufacturer grade TP25, making it suited for moderate to heavy roughing and semi-finishing operations on steel and stainless steel. The trigon insert shape provides an 80-degree included angle with a neutral hand orientation and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With six usable cutting edges and an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches, this insert delivers consistent tool life in high-production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical end users.
This insert is designed for boring, facing, and turning applications on CNC and manual lathes. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Recommended material grades are P20, P30, and P35. The M3 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during interrupted or continuous cuts at moderate feed rates. It is appropriate for both light and production-volume machine shops requiring a reliable general-purpose turning insert in the WNMG series.
Designed for use in standard WNMG-style indexable turning toolholders that accept a 432 insert size. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever-lock systems conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. ISO insert designation: WNMG080408-M3.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket walls before tightening the clamping mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new edge, as contamination can cause premature insert breakage or dimensional error.
