The SECO 03276718 is a WNMG431-MF4 grade TM2501 solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations. Coated via CVD with a multilayer Duratomic TiCN and Al2O3 stack, this insert delivers thermal and wear resistance suited for continuous and interrupted cuts. The trigon (W) insert shape provides an 80-degree included angle, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. With 6 available cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it is a productive choice for machinists and toolroom technicians running turning centers or CNC lathes.
This insert is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M) and steel (ISO material group P), covering material grades M25, M30, and M35. The MF4 chip breaker geometry features a chamfered and honed cutting edge with a 30-degree rake angle and negative rake configuration, making it well suited for finishing and medium turning applications. Multi-use application coverage includes turning, facing, and boring operations in production and job-shop environments.
Designed to seat in WNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Compatible with toolholder systems conforming to ANSI and ISO WNMG insert pocket standards. Consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm insert size code 431 fitment before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping procedure. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris prior to seating a new insert. Do not use a damaged or chipped insert — index to a fresh cutting edge or replace the insert entirely.
