The SECO 03276717 is a WNMG431-MF4 series indexable turning insert in grade TM1501, manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN and Al2O3 with a Cr finish. The insert features an 80-degree trigon shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. With six cutting edges, a negative rake geometry, and a chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style, this insert is engineered for precision material removal on stainless steel and steel workpieces. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations in both roughing and finishing applications within material grades M15, M20, and M25. Its primary target workpiece material is stainless steel, with steel as a secondary material. The MF4 chipbreaker geometry promotes effective chip control during light-to-medium cuts, making it a practical choice for medium-alloy and austenitic stainless applications on production turning equipment.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting WNMG-style inserts with clamp, pin, or lever lock retention. ISO equivalent designation is WNMG080404-MF4. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards. Suitable for CNC lathes and turning centers configured for WNMG431 insert geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-tighten the clamping screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before seating a new cutting edge.
