The SECO 03276039 is a CNMG543-M3 indexable turning insert in grade TM2501, designed for medium to heavy material removal in CNC and conventional lathe applications. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for high wear resistance and thermal stability. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a rigid cutting geometry with a negative rake angle of 18 degrees and a chamfered and honed cutting edge, making it well suited to interrupted and continuous cuts on difficult materials. Four usable cutting edges maximize tool life per insert, and the M3 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during moderate to heavy feeds.
This insert is intended for boring, facing, and turning operations on stainless steel as the primary workpiece material, with steel as a secondary application. It is compatible with toolholders that accept CNMG-style inserts using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right- and left-hand toolholder configurations. Typical users include CNC machinists and turning-center operators in production and job-shop environments working in material grade classifications M25, M30, and M35 per ISO coding.
Designed for CNMG-style toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 1/4-inch hole diameter and 1/4-inch insert thickness, using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Industry standard number CNMG543-M3; ISO equivalent CNMG160612-M3.
Indexable inserts are seated and secured by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and insert seat are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's specifications for clamping screw torque and lever lock engagement to avoid edge chipping or insert rocking during cutting.
