The SECO 03274164 is a DNMG442-MF2 style turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3. It carries a TP25 manufacturer grade, placing it in the moderate wear-resistance to high-toughness range, making it well suited for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this consumable tooling component.
This insert is intended for finishing-class turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Rated for primary use on steel (ISO P) and secondary use on stainless steel (ISO M) and cast iron (ISO K), it covers a broad range of workpiece materials common in production and job-shop environments. Suitable multi-use applications include back turning, boring, facing, and standard OD turning. The insert conforms to both ANSI (DNMG442) and ISO (DNMG150608-MF2) standards, allowing direct cross-reference across tooling systems.
Designed for use in DNMG-style insert toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, negative rake, N-clearance insert. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever lock systems conforming to ANSI and ISO DNMG toolholder specifications.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp hardware for the toolholder type; do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
