The SECO 03273088 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert in the 218.21-230TR-06-M15 configuration, designed for high-productivity metal cutting in CNC milling operations. It carries the MP2501 grade with a CVD-applied Duratomic TiCN and Al2O3 coating for wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features a negative rake angle, a T-Land cutting edge style, and six usable cutting edges on a double-sided body. With a 0.063-inch corner radius and a maximum depth of cut of 0.071 inches, it is suited for structured finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, and aerospace component manufacturing are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for primary use in steel and stainless steel machining, with secondary capability in cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-holding method make it compatible with standard trigon insert pockets. The M15 chip breaker geometry is optimized for stable chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths typical of face milling and shoulder milling applications on ferrous and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.21-R230 and R220.21-R230 milling bodies that accept 230TR-06 trigon insert pockets with screw clamping.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque screwdriver for the insert clamping screw to avoid seat damage or screw failure. Inspect the pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
