The SECO 03272909 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert in the MP2501 grade, designed for indexable face and shoulder milling operations. Coated via CVD with a TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic multilayer finish, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cutting applications. The XNEX-08 series insert features a double-sided, negative rake geometry with 6 cutting edges and a T-Land cutting edge style, providing extended tool life per insert. At 0.2539 inches thick with a 0.4913-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it fits precisely into compatible SECO milling cutter bodies. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and general-trade technicians do not install this part; it is specified and installed by machinists and CNC tooling professionals.
This insert is engineered for milling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It carries ISO material grade codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium). Maximum depth of cut is 0.2953 inches (3.75 mm). The fine-grain carbide substrate and CVD Duratomic coating make it well suited for medium to semi-finish milling passes in both roughing and semi-finishing contexts on CNC machining centers using compatible SECO R217.96-08 or R220.96-08 cutter bodies.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.96-08 and R220.96-08. Insert size code 080608; series designation XNEX-08. ANSI/ISO code XNEX080608TR-M13.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque for the screw-held mounting; do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
