Product Description

The SECO 03272865 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX180608TR-D16 in manufacturer grade MP2501. It is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert with a positive rake geometry and a T-Land cutting edge style. The CVD-applied Duratomic coating combines TiCN and Al2O3 layers to support extended tool life in demanding milling operations. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Corner radius is 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch), inscribed circle measures 0.4409 inches (11.20 mm), and thickness is 0.2520 inches (6.40 mm). This insert is part of the XOMX-18 series and is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production milling environments.

This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling applications on steel as the primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The D16 chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation across these material groups. Typical installations occur in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where consistent depth-of-cut control and surface finish are required. The insert is held by screw clamping. Maximum depth of cut is 8.25 mm (0.3248 inches). Fine grain carbide substrate supports edge toughness at moderate to high cutting speeds.

Key Features

  • CVD Duratomic coating (TiCN plus Al2O3) for wear resistance on steel and stainless steel
  • Positive rake angle of 11 degrees reduces cutting forces
  • T-Land cutting edge style improves edge stability and reduces chipping
  • Two cutting edges per insert for cost-effective use
  • D16 chip breaker designed for steel and difficult-to-machine materials
  • Screw-clamping insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating

Compatibility

Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 as stated by the manufacturer. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standard designation XOMX180608TR-D16.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque for screw-clamp inserts — do not over-torque, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excessive clamping load. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for damage or debris before seating a new insert.
