The SECO 03272852 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120416TR-ME08 in manufacturer grade MP2501. It is a parallelogram-shaped, single-sided insert with a positive rake geometry and T-Land cutting edge style designed for use in indexable milling cutters. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN and Al2O3 layers, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. With a maximum depth of cut of 5.80 mm and a corner radius of 1/16 inch (0.0630 inch), it is suited for moderate to aggressive material removal on steel and related workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC milling operators are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered primarily for steel cutting applications and is secondarily rated for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The ME08 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation across a wide range of feed and depth conditions. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-held mounting method are standard for compatible SECO cutter bodies. Typical use cases include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocket milling operations on machining centers in both job shop and production environments. The XOMX-12 series designation identifies the insert family and cutter compatibility grouping.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 per manufacturer data. Insert size code 120416 corresponds to the XOMX-12 series insert pocket specification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or fixture before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the screw-held insert. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before clamping to ensure proper insert support and repeatability.
