The SECO 03272673 is a trigon-shaped, solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the 218.19-125 series, this single-sided insert carries a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN and Al2O3 that extends cutting edge life under thermal and abrasive load. The insert features a neutral rake, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 12-degree relief angle. With 3 available cutting edges per insert and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, it delivers consistent chip control and dimensional accuracy across a range of workpiece materials. It is installed using a screw-holding method and is compatible with designated SECO milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations in production and job-shop environments. The primary workpiece material is steel, with rated secondary compatibility for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The MD10 chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium cutting conditions in these material groups. Machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking facilities will encounter this insert in horizontal and vertical machining center applications where consistent tool life and surface finish are required.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.21 and R220.21-R125. Rated for primary application in steel (ISO material code P) and secondary application in stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys, and titanium (S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before inserting or indexing, shut down the spindle and confirm the machine is in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure with the appropriate torque driver to the cutter body manufacturer's specification. Inspect the pocket seating surface and screw thread condition prior to each insert change to prevent premature edge failure.
