The SECO 03245444 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. This solid carbide insert carries the TTP2050 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiSiN coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 16ER insert style features a right-hand cutting orientation, a 60-degree included angle, and a chipbreaker designation of A. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1366-inch thickness, the insert seats securely in standard 16ER toolholders. Machinists use this insert to generate 8 threads per inch on external UN-standard threads with consistent profile accuracy across production runs.
This insert is suited for threading operations on universal workpiece materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the K, M, P, and S material grade codes. It belongs to the Snap Tap series and meets ISO standards, making it a practical choice for job shops and production environments running both general and mixed-material threading work. Three cutting edges per side are available, and the insert is delivered individually per package with a minimum order quantity of two units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement threading insert compatible with standard 16ER-style toolholders for external UN thread applications at 8 threads per inch.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC turning centers or manual lathes equipped with 16ER-compatible toolholders. Power down the machine and disengage the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw to secure the insert without over-torquing the seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
