The SECO 03213564 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation SNMX1407ANTR-M16 and manufacturer grade MK2050. This double-sided, square-shaped insert is engineered for face and shoulder milling operations where consistent performance across cast iron, steel, and hard materials is required. It features a TiSiN and TiAlN PVD dual-layer coating applied over a medium-grain solid carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and edge stability under moderate to heavy cutting loads. The M16 chip breaker geometry and T-Land cutting edge style help manage chip flow and protect the edge during interrupted cuts. Eight usable cutting edges per insert reduce tooling cost per edge on high-volume runs.
This insert is suited for milling applications in manufacturing and machining environments, including general-purpose face milling and shoulder milling on cast iron components and steel workpieces. The negative rake geometry and 0-degree relief angle make it appropriate for rigid setups where maximum edge strength is needed. It is a right-hand insert and is intended for use in compatible milling cutter bodies in production machine shop, maintenance machining, and job shop settings.
Designed for use with the R220.54-14 cutter series. Fits toolholders accepting SNMX-14 series inserts with an inscribed circle range of 0.5100 to 0.6000 decimal inches. Verify cutter body pocket specifications before installing.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following standard milling insert change procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before accessing the cutter body. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the pocket for damage or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
