The SECO 03212688 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation LPKT09T420TR-M13 in manufacturer grade F40M. It features a rectangular shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry of 10 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is PVD-coated with TiAlN and TiN layers for wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. With 2 cutting edges, a corner radius of 2.00 mm, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.5512 inches, this insert is suited for demanding milling operations on steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is designed for face milling and shoulder milling applications where consistent edge life and chip control are required. The M13 chip breaker geometry manages chip formation across primary workpiece materials coded P, K, and S, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes. It is held in the cutter body via a screw-clamping method and is a single-sided, right-hand insert. Compatible cutter series include R217.21-LP09 and R220.21-LP09 as specified by the manufacturer. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the machine locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the cutter body pocket and screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
