The SECO 03100387 is a DNMG543-M6 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a Duratomic CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Designed for external and internal turning operations, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64-inch corner radius. Grade TP3501 targets moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, making it suitable for steel and stainless steel at P20, P30, and P40 material grades. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is engineered for roughing and medium machining operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Its M6 chip breaker geometry supports back turning, boring, facing, and general turning applications across a maximum depth of cut of 0.7008 inches. The four available cutting edges and negative rake geometry allow multiple indexed positions per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in production turning environments. It is suited to both light production and heavy-duty roughing passes on CNC lathes and turning centers using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods.
Designed for use in DNMG-series turning toolholders that accept a 5/8-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention. Conforms to ANSI insert code DNMG543 and ISO insert code DNMG190612. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and stainless steel (M) at grades P20, P30, and P40.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp or lever-lock hardware for the toolholder to ensure proper seating of the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge; a contaminated pocket can cause premature insert failure or dimensional deviation.
