The SECO 03095588 is a TNMG542-M5 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN and Al2O3. It carries a TP3501 grade designation and is engineered for medium to heavy-duty turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The triangular insert geometry provides 6 cutting edges, a 5/8-inch (0.6250 inch) inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0315 inch) corner radius. The M5 chip breaker combines a chamfered and honed cutting edge style with a negative rake angle and neutral hand orientation, making it a versatile choice for production turning environments where consistent chip control is critical.
This insert is suited for general turning, back turning, boring, and facing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Primary target workpiece materials are carbon and alloy steels (ISO P20, P30, P40) and stainless steels. The neutral hand orientation allows use on both right- and left-hand toolholders. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tool-setup technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, ensure the machine is stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or damage that could affect insert positioning and cutting edge integrity.
