The SECO 03095431 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-M3 series, designed for external and internal turning operations including boring, facing, and general turning. It carries an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert is CVD-coated with a multilayer Duratomic coating system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr layers, placing it in the TP3501 manufacturer grade. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, it is suited to medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes in steel and stainless steel. Licensed machinists and CNC turning center operators are the primary end users.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. It targets steel workpieces rated at material grades P20, P30, and P40, with stainless steel as a rated secondary workpiece material. The M3 chip breaker geometry is engineered for positive-rake cutting action and chamfered-and-honed edge preparation, supporting controlled chip evacuation during medium feeds. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2362 inches. The insert mounts via screw-holding method and is compatible with standard CCMT toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO specifications.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tool-setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque driver for the mounting screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — refer to the toolholder manufacturer torque specification for CCMT screw seats. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating, and confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming cuts.
