The SECO 03093936 is a TNMG332-M5 triangular carbide turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. It features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr layers, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert carries manufacturer grade TP3501 and is rated for steel (P-grade) as its primary workpiece material, with stainless steel as the secondary material. With 6 cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance across a range of turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations. The 0.0315-inch corner radius and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style suit medium to roughing depths of cut.
This insert is suited for use in production turning environments handling steel grades P20, P30, and P40, as well as stainless steel classifications. It fits standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 0.150-inch center hole. Typical applications include OD turning, facing, and boring on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance machining operations. The M5 chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip control across a range of feed rates and depths common in steel turning.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians during setup or insert indexing. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or clamping wrench specified for the toolholder to secure the insert clamp, pin, or lever-lock mechanism — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
