The SECO 03093886 is a WNMG431-M3 trigon turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a Duratomic TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr multilayer coating. It carries the TP3501 grade designation and is designed for indexable tooling systems used in CNC turning, boring, and facing operations. The insert features a negative rake, neutral hand orientation, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With 6 cutting edges and an 80-degree included angle, it delivers efficient material removal in high-production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a standard indexable component.
This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. Recommended material grades are P20, P30, and P40, making it a practical choice for medium to heavy roughing passes on carbon steels, alloy steels, and austenitic stainless steels. Typical applications include external diameter turning, facing, and boring on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production shop and job shop environments. The M3 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow across a broad range of feed rates and depths of cut.
Designed for use in WNMG-style indexable turning toolholders that accept a W insert shape with clamp, pin, or lever lock retention. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO WNMG insert seating standards. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO code M).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all motion is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before engaging the clamping mechanism to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before each insert change.
