The SECO 03093883 is a WNMG331-M3 style indexable turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TP3501 manufacturer grade with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which improves wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has an 80-degree trigon shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle with a 1/64-inch corner radius. The M3 chip breaker geometry combines a chamfered and honed cutting edge for stable chip control across a range of feed and depth-of-cut conditions. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians install this insert in production turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The primary target material is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (ISO material code M). Recommended material grades are P20, P30, and P40. The 80-degree included angle and negative rake geometry make this insert a dependable choice for roughing and semi-finishing passes where edge strength is a priority. The insert is not a full-radius style, making it appropriate for profiling and shoulder work where a defined corner is required.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for WNMG331-M3 series toolholders accepting clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert retention. Conforms to ANSI and ISO WNMG060404-M3 dimensional standards. Suitable for toolholders specifying a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch insert thickness, and 0.150-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder pocket geometry before installation.
This insert is installed by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians following standard indexable-insert procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing any insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert, and confirm the correct chip breaker orientation for the programmed feed direction.
