The SECO 03093881 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge suited for finishing and light roughing passes across a range of steel grades.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, back turning, and profiling operations. Its primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material group P), and its secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material group M). Applicable material grades are P20, P30, and P40. The insert is well suited for production turning environments where dimensional accuracy and surface finish consistency are required. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order. The ISO code for this insert is VBMT160404-F1, and it meets both ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Designed for use in VBMT-style toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle diamond insert with screw clamping. Compatible with P20, P30, and P40 steel grades and ISO group M stainless steel workpieces. Refer to toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm insert pocket geometry and clamp screw compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed and serviced by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamp screw and tighten to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert, and never use a damaged or chipped insert.
