The SECO 03093876 is a carbide turning insert in the SNMM-R7 series, designed for high-productivity machining on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TP3501 manufacturer grade with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr under the Duratomic coating classification, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during heavy cutting passes. The insert features a 90-degree square shape, neutral hand orientation, a 1/16 inch corner radius, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges and compatibility with clamp, pin, and lever lock holding methods, it suits boring, facing, and turning operations in demanding production environments.
This insert is primarily targeted at machining steel (ISO material code P, grades P20, P30, P40) and secondarily at stainless steel (ISO material code M). The R7 chip breaker geometry and negative rake angle make it well suited for moderate to heavy depths of cut up to 0.689 inches. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments will find this insert appropriate for general turning work on ferrous materials where consistent chip control and tool life are priorities.
Designed for toolholders accepting SNMM-style square inserts with a 0.3118 inch hole diameter and lever lock, clamp, or pin retention. ISO code SNMM190616-R7; industry standard number SNMM644-R7. Suitable for use in toolholder systems conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for negative-rake square inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamping mechanism to avoid micro-fractures at the cutting edge. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris each time the insert is indexed.
