The SECO 03084177 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. With a 1/2 inch mill diameter, 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius, this tool is built for both roughing and finishing operations. The micrograin carbide substrate is coated with AlTiN via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. A variable helix design and 4-flute configuration promote chip evacuation and reduce chatter. The 40-degree helix angle supports aggressive yet stable cuts in difficult-to-machine materials.
This end mill is suited for machining stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials in CNC milling applications. It operates as a single-end, centercutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting, making it compatible with standard toolholders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The long-length configuration and straight cylindrical shank allow access to deeper features while maintaining rigidity. It is appropriate for production-level work in aerospace, medical, and energy-sector part manufacturing where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials as identified by material codes M, S, and H. Part of the SECO STR440.2 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician familiar with end mill setup procedures. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and within tolerance before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting — TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and projection length to maintain tool stability and surface finish.
