The SECO 03084176 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.12-inch corner radius, and four flutes with a high-helix variable design that reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation in tough alloys. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-inch length of cut, this single-end, centercutting tool covers both roughing and finishing operations without a tool change. Micrograin carbide substrate adds toughness and edge retention at depth.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers running stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments. The 0.5-inch Weldon flat shank seats securely in standard side-lock toolholders and milling chucks. The short flute length and high helix angle make it particularly effective in slotting, profiling, and pocket operations where material springback and work hardening are concerns. It is part of the SECO STR440.2 series, which is designed specifically for high-performance milling in difficult-to-cut material groups M, S, and H.

Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state per OSHA 1910.147. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the toolholder and torque the set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the 0.0005-inch maximum TIR before cutting. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material grade.
