The SECO 03084170 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.030-inch corner radius, and a 1-inch length of cut, this tool is built for both roughing and finishing operations. The four-flute geometry and variable helix design reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation. An AlTiN physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating provides thermal resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. The Weldon flat shank ensures secure tool holding and accurate runout with a maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches. This end mill is suited for licensed machinists and tooling professionals working in precision CNC environments.
This end mill is engineered for primary use in stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials — material application codes M, S, and H. It is a single-end, centercutting tool capable of plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. The short length type and 3-inch overall length make it well-suited for rigid setups where tool deflection must be minimized. It belongs to the SECO STR440.2 series, which targets high-temperature alloy and hard-material machining in both production and maintenance environments.
Designed for use with standard Weldon flat-style toolholders. Suited for CNC machining centers running stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as part of the SECO STR440.2 series.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the toolholder before tightening the set screw to the toolholder specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter does not exceed the stated TIR maximum before beginning a cut.
