The SECO 03084150 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series STR440.2 specifications, it features a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter, a 0.0200 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable high helix for improved chip evacuation and surface finish. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides heat and wear resistance, making this tool well suited for cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry as well as standard peripheral and slot milling operations. Machinists in precision job shops, aerospace, and medical component manufacturing environments are the primary users.
This end mill is intended for roughing and finishing passes on difficult-to-machine materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and hard materials. The 15/16 inch (0.9375 inch) length of cut combined with a 2-1/2 inch overall length gives adequate reach for most standard workpiece depths without excessive overhang. It mounts in standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The STR440.2 series is engineered specifically for high-speed, high-feed operations on materials that generate significant cutting heat, where the AlTiN coating and micrograin carbide substrate maintain edge integrity longer than uncoated or HSS alternatives.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills set up for right-hand cutting tools. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials (ISO material codes M, S, H).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's runout and clamping specifications. Verify TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inch at setup, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Follow all machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures before changing tooling.
